How WhistlinDiesel Revolutionized Car Reviews
With automotive content, traditional car reviews have long followed a familiar formula: polished shots of vehicles, technical specifications, and reserved commentary on performance. However, with the rise of platforms like YouTube and social media, this formula has been challenged. One creator who stands out in this shift is WhistlinDiesel. Known for his unconventional and often extreme approach,…

Just finished young royals and now I’m sad
#searched if there would be another season while I was on season 3 episode 4 (lol)#i might have connected the dots by the set up of the last episode#sad there isn’t more#but honestly it makes sense for the story#like is the ending ending realistic probably not#but they told a whole story#and I think it’s good that they aren’t extending it for the sake of extending it#bc that’s when thinks are risked to be ruined#it gave me dead poet society vibes#i feel like they tied up loose ends well#i felt like I always wanted to know more about certain characters#such as august#all of the characters are so rich#but that also feels authentic to the story that you don’t know everything#young royals#now the question is will I potentially alter or ruin my feelings towards the ending by watching reviews. tbd#my bad habit is watching reviews and then following their review in part#sometimes it is also one of those things where once you hear it or once you see it you can’t take it back and you can’t unsee it

#summer strike#i don't feel like doing anything#kdramanetwork#kdramakitty reviews#kdrama#I honestly could go off on a lot more things#(mild spoilers ahead)#like how Ji Young got somewhat of a character arc by recognizing that academia is garbage and wouldn't make Dae Beom happy#while also still wanting to move to Seoul herself#and I don't know if it annoyed anyone but I liked the progression of Bom and Jae Hoon's relationship#it felt more authentic than everything being totally fine#(spoilers end)#and overall I just really loved that Yeo Reum didn't find a new grand goal or dream and just got to be happy#maybe it's a personal thing but I feel like being 'successful' and 'ambitious' are really ideals thrust upon us#and so it was really lovely to see someone rise above that

Getting so tired of reading queer books that are basic as hell. It’s like everyone is so preoccupied with writing something inoffensive they’ve committed the worst crime of all: it’s boring.
#im not gonna name names but hooooly shit#I understand I really do#internet retaliation can be rough#but the review section is not for author eyes#resist the urge & look away#especially if criticism is going to bother you#better to write something authentic & complicated than stilted & inoffensive

about to leave a scathing review for a historical fiction book on goodreads (felt so strongly about it i made an account for the first time) then chickening out once i realised i'd put down my full name and i dont want to offend the author TOO much in case we end up working in the same field as historians
#missives#i admire her a lot too which sucks but holy shit. this book is bad its SO bad#maybe i'll post my review here just to get it out of my system#in essence its a book about a real historical figure but shes written in this way where literally all she ever does is serve men#and have babies continuously#and we're meant to believe she's fallen in love with her dropkick of a husband who does fuck all and is constantly abroad#and like. of course i can believe that's how some women were especially given their religious inclinations#but i could feel the feminism leaving my body the longer i read the book like it is that bad i felt like i was being brainwashed#it starts good like it goes into her childhood and relationship with her siblings#but then she just turns into her husband's mother essentially and its so revolting. and it doesnt even feel authentic? like#none of these people feel like real people. they dont fight they dont have nasty thoughts they are so fucking sanitised#i dont know what i expected.jpeg#and this woman is a historian!! she has a phd!!#yet she gets basic things wrong to an immersion-breaking degree#the whole thing is set during the civil wars but she NEVER talks about there being surgeons i have not seen a single mention of a surgeon#shes always referring to doctors and physicians but it's becoming apparent to me that when she says physician#shes just using it as an old timey word for doctor not because she properly understands the 17th century medical hierarchy#fucking hell. im so mad

pitchfork giving great impersonator 4.8 while accusing halsey of being "addicted to concepts" like motherfuckers what do you think entire bodies of work are made of. fluff and gas?
#not to be a pop defender on main but i hate hate hate bad faith reviews#these men are addicted to the idea of authenticity but miss the point by a mile#also pitchfork was straight up ableist about bipolar disorder in the iichl review so go figure!#music tag#LMAOOOO just saw they gave [redacted] a higher rating yeah that basement does need to collapse

Dissecting Disability Representation in Media: Insights from 'My Left Foot,' 'Echo,' and 'Music Within'
In the realm of cinematic and television media, the portrayal of disabilities often treads a delicate line between realism and dramatization. This intersection is vividly illustrated in productions like “My Left Foot,” the TV show “Echo,” and the film “Music Within.” As someone who is both neurodivergent and living with cerebral palsy, I approach these portrayals with a critical eye, keenly aware…

I ended up reading The Price of the Phoenix and while it didn't make me want to bleach my eyes like Killing Time, I still didn't like it as much as I hoped I would. Don't get me wrong, the homoeroticism was intriguing to me, but the actual writing and storyline itself left me with a headache. I think I get my hopes up with these books, given all of the possibilities that the written word has for Trek, and it inevitably sets me up for disappointment lol
#if u liked it thats fine I just kind of hated it#star trek#The only ones Ive genuinely liked so far is STTMP and the one about Garak written by Andrew Robinson#i wish Roddenberry had written more. STTMP was no literary masterpiece but his writing style had a lot of potential and I feel that#he actually captured the characters authentically and you could relate to their feelings#Price of the Phoenix had all of this corny alpha male shit going on that almost made me feel#like the author just didn't know how to write men or something#Like they relied a lot on stereotypes of the time which sucked considering that Kirk and co. are supposed to be living in the future#the dialogue was clunky and even confusing at times#and the characters were just#idk. vapid to me#Like Kirk and Spock's love for each other is portrayed which is nice but basically everything else about them just didnt feel#accurately characterized or otherwise explored#it was basically just muliple chapters of several different versions of Kirk getting his ass kicked & this big weird villain dude taking up#space on the page with his plan to take over the universe or whatever#the reincarnation concept was intriguing but the themes just weren't clear enough for me#the end haha#sttos#k/s#review#price of the phoenix#well Im glad I read it anyway I was curious#i get kind of leary of certain K/S content TBF since a lot of it- esp around that time- comes off as voyeuristic towards M/M relationships#a lot of those ppl didnt exactly care about queer movements as much as they cared about seeing their two fictional favs fuck#yes there were queer writers but we didnt always exactly get center stage in these things#you can tell what is written with respect and whats just kinda. written. you feel me#i love K/S and its history but Im not gonna pretend all or even half of it was written with the intention of uplifting queer men#i ended up having more to say than I realized uhhhhhh to be continued at another date

seriously can't recommend enough hopping on hyperbeam or having a friend stream youtube and searching like. "soda review" or "cookie review" on there and sorting by most recent. you will find so many 0 subscriber channels with the funniest thumbnails ever and very sincerely (and badly) trying to review the most mundane stuff
#stomping#cereal review is also pretty good#i avoid doing like video game stuff etc because it isnt AUTHENTIC#i dont want big channels to show up. you have to see the little guys#found someones pilot episode for a tv show once where they asked for writers to contact them if they were interested#and an entire youtube series they did too#just from the cereal reviews. of which they did dozens and dozens of them#god i love internet

The Authenticity Project
Clare Pooley
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ (5/5)
Clare Pooley writes books for lonely people. each time i’ve read one of her books (so twice), i’ve found myself yearning for the friendships found in the book. sure, they’re twisted and messy and sometimes the relationships between people suck. but also, they all find each other and work it out in the end. i’m a pooley fan for life, both this and rules for commuting felt like they poked at a little hole in my life i didn’t know was there. that desire to find a group of strangers that i just….fit with.
also! i loved the little twist this book took, though i never felt the same about the character afterwards (so vague but i don’t want to spoil anything!! unless you’re like roy from the it crowd and even knowing there’s a twist is devastating information)
